November 13 – 16, 2018: Buffalo, New York

THE VOYAGERS MEET IN BUFFALO, NEW YORK

Tuesday, Nov. 13 – Friday, Nov. 16, 2018

The Voyagers are traveling to Buffalo, NY for the fall, 2018 meeting.  Bob Spilman, one of the founding members of the Voyagers and a long-time resident of the Buffalo area, is serving as the host for this meeting.

In our three and 1/2 days of meetings, there will be presentations on Bowen theory, family of origin groups, case studies, and time to think about the upcoming pericope through a systems lens.

On Thursday, Dr. Mike Kerr, founder of the Bowen Theory Academy and former director of The Bowen Center for the Study of the Family, will introduce his new book,  Bowen Theory’s Secrets: The Hidden Life of Families.   This presentation is open to the community, and will be held at Christ the King Seminary, outside of Buffalo.

We will be staying and meeting  at the Westin hotel in downtown Buffalo, with the exception of the day with Mike Kerr, which will be held at Christ the King Seminary in East Aurora.  More details of the meeting and registration will be available here in July.

As we have several times in the past years, the Voyagers will  sponsor a one-day Introduction to Congregations and Systems Thinking for those in the area who would like to learn more about Bowen Family Systems Theory and Rabbi Friedman’s application of the theory to congregations, clergy, and leadership.  This will be on Wednesday, November 14, at the Westin Hotel.  Although several Voyagers will be leading this introductory workshop, the rest of the group will be in other presentations.

Because of accommodations at The Westin Hotel, expenses for this meeting will be a little higher, and meal arrangements a little different.   Registration will remain the same ($300), but the lodging cost for three nights will be $450  total.  (The Voyagers are subsidizing 21.9% of the room cost. Lunch on Wednesday and Thursday are included.  Thursday evening’s “Voyagers Night Out” will be Dutch treat, as usual.  ( We promise – costs for the following meeting at Dayspring Conference Center in Parrish, FL will be lower!  Hopefully, things will even out.)

Registration is open now, and closes on Friday, October 5.
